The Librarian Who Never Lies

Candil Station, in orbit around Mars, the year 2187.

On Candil Station, which has been circling Mars for forty years, there is a library with a voice that answers everything. It is called BIBA, and it has one rule engraved at the heart of its program: it never says anything false. Noa, twelve years old and an apprentice in the greenhouse, knew this well. But she also knew something else: BIBA only answers what it is asked.

That night, at the end of her shift, Noa found the greenhouse door shut. A sign was stuck to it: “PESTS. KEEP OUT.” The lights were on inside. Mireia, the head gardener, was waiting in the corridor with her hands on her hips. In three years her tomatoes hadn’t had a single bug. In the canteen Noa had seen the calendar with today’s date circled in red and a single word beside it: “SHHH!”.

This is today’s story. Keep reading in the game, take on the five challenges and come back tomorrow for the ending.
